Though the state of the world didn’t give much reason to celebrate last week (I find it so weird that things just seems to go on, despite those tragedies), we had cava in the group meeting because of a recently accepted paper. And only after I had had some I was asked to summarize the work for the others… but I think I managed to do it reasonably well nevertheless.
Auch wenn die Welt in der letzten Woche nicht gerade viel Grund zum Feiern bot (ich finde es so eigenartig, dass die Dinge einfach weiterzugehen scheinen, trotz dieser Tragödien) gab es bei unserem letzten group meeting Cava, um einen kürzlich akzeptierten Artikel zu feiern. Und erst, nachdem ich schon was davon getrunken hatte, wurde ich gebeten, die Arbeit doch mal kurz für die anderen zusammenzufassen… Was ich aber trotzdem ganz brauchbar hinbekommen habe.
Lately I have fallen for black-and-white pictures, which feels odd for someone who loves colors as much as I do, but I find that several of my photos simply look better in bw. This particular subject (can you guess what it is?) got completely out of focus as I was exploring the effects of my then-new fisheye optic for the Lensbaby. Quite different in style are the 5 photos of mine that were ranked in the top 500 in the EMBO Journal Cover Contest. Another small thing to celebrate.
In letzter Zeit gefallen mir Schwarzweißbilder immer besser, was etwas seltsam ist für jemanden, der Farben so sehr liebt wie ich. Und doch sehen einige meiner Fotos so einfach besser aus. Hier hatte ich gerade mein (damals neues) Fisheye-Objektiv für das Lensbaby ausprobiert und alles unscharf werden lassen (kann jemand raten, wo ich war?) Ziemlich anders sind dagegen die 5 meiner Bilder, die beim EMBO Journal Cover Contest in die top 500 gekommen sind. Noch ein kleiner Grund zum Feiern.
